Presence Studio

Run the whole show from one Mac.
Version 0.2.2 For macOS 14 Sonoma or later, Apple silicon By OpenPurpose

Getting started

From a fresh download to your first slide on the wall, in four steps. One Mac drives the service.

Presence Studio on one Mac Give thanks Psalm 107:1 SPEAKER NAME Audience wall
The whole show from one Mac. Studio runs on the operator Mac and sends the finished picture to the projector or TV. Your owner pass is what approves the Mac the first time.

What you need

Install and pair

  1. Download and install. Open Presence Studio from the link your team shared, drag it into Applications, and launch it.
  2. Enter your campus join code. On first launch the app asks for a campus join code. Find it on your Studio account page at presencepass.com/studio, under Campuses.
  3. Approve the Mac. Open your owner pass and approve the short code the Mac shows. No separate username or password is needed; the pass is the key.
  4. Add your output screen. Connect the projector or TV, open Screens, and assign it as the audience wall. You are live.
Why a pass, not a login. The Mac is authorised by a pass that already carries the right to operate Studio, so a stolen 4-character code on its own opens nothing.

The operator window

Everything you drive on Sunday lives in one window. Here is the tour.

The operator window. One screen for the whole service. Nothing here reaches the wall until you take it.

Account and campus

Under the logo in the sidebar you will see your account and campus name, so anyone walking up knows which room this Mac is driving. This is set by the join code the Mac was paired with.

Service Flow

The centre column is the running order for the whole service: scripture, songs, backgrounds, lower-thirds and camera shots, top to bottom. The live cue is marked ON AIR in red; the cue on deck (up next) is marked in gold.

The dock

Along the bottom sit the live controls: take and clear, Text off, cameras, lighting and the output picker. These act on the wall the moment you tap them.

Running a service

Build the order once, then drive it with taps.

Cues, take and next

Tap any cue to take it live. The next cue sits on deck so you always know what is coming. Step forward through a passage or a song one line at a time without leaving the flow.

Auto-advance

Turn on auto-advance to step through verses hands-free at a set pace, useful for a reading you want to run itself while you watch the room.

Save and reuse

Save a whole service to open it again next week. The order, the backgrounds and the lower-third presets come back with it.

Scripture and lyrics

Passages and songs, broken into slides you step through one line at a time.

Translations

Several Bible translations are bundled and work offline. To unlock the ESV, add an ESV API key in Settings under Scripture.

Voice follow

With voice follow on, Studio listens to the reading and advances the verse for you. It runs on the Mac and needs microphone access, which macOS asks for the first time you use it.

Backgrounds and screens

Motion backgrounds, your own media, and packs you can buy without an app update.

Lower-thirds

Name a speaker, a song, a moment.

PASTOR AMA This Sunday Bar PASTOR AMA This Sunday Gradient PASTOR AMA Minimal PASTOR AMA This Sunday Media
Four styles, one control. Take and clear any of them from the dock. The accent can be a fixed colour or matched to the scene on screen.

Choose from four styles: bar, gradient, minimal, or your own image or video. Take and clear it from the dock, and save presets that travel with the service. The accent colour can be a custom pick, a worship preset, or matched automatically to the scene on screen.

Cameras

Phones and cameras on the wall, over your own network.

Phone camera same Wi-Fi Studio cuts the shot LIVE On the wall
Any phone becomes a camera. It joins over your own Wi-Fi, so keep the phone and the Mac on the same network. Guest networks that wall devices off will block it.

Turn a phone into a wireless camera with the companion link, or bring in a connected camera, and cut it to the wall or an overflow screen. Camera IMAG lets the room see the stage up close on the same screens as the words.

Keep them on one network. The phone or camera and the Mac must share the same Wi-Fi or LAN. Guest networks that isolate devices will block the connection.

Screens and output

Drive several screens at once, each with its own content.

One Mac Give thanks Psalm 107:1 Main wall NOW Give thanks NEXT How great 12:04 Confidence LIVE Overflow PASTOR AMA Stream feed
Every screen its own job. The wall gets the words, the stage gets a confidence monitor, the lobby gets an overflow feed, and the stream gets a clean lower-third on transparent. All from the one Mac.

Send different content to each screen: the main wall, a confidence monitor for the stage, an overflow room, or a lower-third-only feed for your stream. Manage every screen and its role in Screens.

Lighting

DMX fixtures and Philips Hue, driven from one desk.

Front wash 3 fixtures · amber · 70% Stage key 2 fixtures · cool · 100% Back light 3 fixtures · violet · 55% Bump Blackout Full Look: Worship Hue: follow the wash
Fixtures become zones. Set colour and dim for a whole zone at once. Bump flashes to full while held; Blackout and Full are reversible. Each Hue bulb takes a role: follow the wash, hold a colour, or mirror a fixture.

Light Desk

Group fixtures into zones and set colour and dim for a whole zone at once. Bump flashes a fixture or zone to full while you hold it. Blackout and Full take the whole rig to 0 or 100 and are reversible. Save looks and recall them live, or let the lights follow the atmosphere of the scene.

Philips Hue

Pair your Hue bridge, then give each light a role: follow the stage wash, hold a fixed colour, or mirror a specific DMX fixture. Press the round button on the bridge when the app asks, and keep the bridge on the same network as the Mac.

Settings and updates

Tune how the app behaves, and stay on the latest build.

Account and licensing

One account, one or many campuses, one subscription.

Subscription and the watermark

Studio runs on a subscription set by your size. While unlicensed or on an expired trial, outputs carry a small Presence mark; subscribing clears it. The room is never blocked, only marked.

Campuses

An account can run several campuses, each on its own Mac and its own join code. Add or rename campuses, and see which Macs are paired, on your Studio account page at presencepass.com/studio.

Keyboard shortcuts

The moves worth learning by muscle memory.

A printable version of this table is worth taping to the booth. The current shortcuts are always listed in the app under Help.

Troubleshooting

The quick answers to the things that come up mid-service.

The output has a Presence watermark

The Mac is unlicensed or a trial has ended. Subscribe from your Studio account page; the mark clears on the next licence check, on relaunch or within a day.

The Mac will not pair

Check the campus join code and approve the code from your owner pass. Codes are single-use and expire quickly, so request a fresh one on the Mac if it lapsed.

Nothing shows on the projector

Open Screens and confirm the projector is assigned as an output. Re-assign a newly connected display there, and check the cable and that the display is awake.

A camera is stuck at connecting

The phone or camera and the Mac must be on the same Wi-Fi or LAN. Guest networks that isolate devices will block it.

Hue lights are not responding

Pair the bridge in the Light Desk, pressing its round button when prompted, and keep it on the same network as the Mac.
